Xiaomi 17 Ultra Global Model to Launch With Smaller Battery Than China Variant

Fresh details extracted from MI code have revealed that Xiaomi is actively developing the global version of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and it will arrive with a notable hardware downgrade compared to its China-exclusive counterpart. The biggest change comes in the battery department, which may disappoint some global users.

According to the new findings, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra China variant is equipped with a massive 6,800mAh battery, positioning it among the longest-lasting flagship smartphones expected this year. However, the global model is reportedly set to feature a smaller 6,000mAh battery, marking a significant reduction in capacity.

The global Xiaomi 17 Ultra will also retain 90W wired fast charging support, ensuring rapid charging speeds despite the reduced battery capacity.

This battery difference is currently the most crucial hardware change between the two versions. While Xiaomi has not officially explained the reason behind this adjustment, similar reductions in global variants have previously been linked to regulatory requirements, thermal management, weight balance, or cost optimization for international markets.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is set to redefine mobile photography with its powerful Leica-engineered camera system. At the core is a 1-inch Leica “Light Master” main camera, featuring a large sensor that enables advanced HDR imaging, outstanding low-light performance, and Leica’s signature natural color science for true-to-life photos.

Complementing this is a groundbreaking Leica 200MP optical zoom camera equipped with a 1/1.4-inch large sensor and the industry’s first Leica APO-certified mobile lens. This camera uses an advanced 3G + 5P floating optical lens group, ensuring exceptional sharpness, minimal chromatic aberration, and true optical clarity. The telephoto system supports a 75mm to 100mm focal length, delivering 3.2× to 4.3× true optical zoom with lossless image quality, eliminating the need for digital cropping and making the Xiaomi 17 Ultra a serious contender for professional-grade smartphone photography.
