POCO is expected to launch its M8 5G series smartphones in India next month. Ahead of its anticipated debut, the Xiaomi subsidiary has officially teased the design of its upcoming smartphone and confirmed its availability. The teaser reveals a rear camera design that closely resembles the camera module seen on the upcoming Redmi Note 15 5G.
POCO M8 5G: Expected Specifications
As per leaks, the POCO M8 5G will be powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor and feature a 6.77-inch curved AMOLED display with 2392 × 1080 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The device is expected to offer 8GB RAM along with storage options going up to 512GB, a segment-first move that may allow POCO to price the device higher than its competitors.
In the camera department, the phone could pack a 50MP primary sensor with OIS, paired with a 2MP depth sensor, while the front may feature a 20MP selfie camera. It is said to house a 5,520mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging.
Design & Build
Leaked renders suggest a dual-tone rear design combining matte and vegan leather finishes. The phone will feature a centered square-shaped camera module housing dual cameras and an LED flash. Dimension-wise, it measures 162.2 × 74.2 × 8.4mm, weighs 190g, and is expected to come with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
Additional features include an optical in-display fingerprint sensor, a hybrid microSD card slot, Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi 5, and an IR blaster.
POCO M8 Pro 5G: Expected Specifications
The POCO M8 Pro 5G is tipped to bring more premium hardware. It is expected to run on the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset and feature a 6.83-inch quad-curved AMOLED display with 2772 × 1280 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.
Camera upgrades include a 50MP OIS-enabled main camera, an additional 8MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 32MP front camera for selfies and video calls.
The Pro model is said to pack a massive 6,500mAh battery with 100W fast charging support. Despite the larger battery, it is reportedly slimmer at 7.9mm, though heavier at 207g, with dimensions of 162.5 × 74.7 × 7.9mm.
Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi 5, an IR blaster, a hybrid microSD slot, an optical fingerprint sensor, and an IP68 rating, similar to the standard variant.
Both the POCO M8 5G and POCO M8 Pro 5G are expected to run Android 15-based HyperOS 2 out of the box.
What to Expect
With high-capacity storage options, AMOLED displays, fast charging, and IP68 protection, the POCO M8 5G series could position itself strongly in the mid-range segment. More details regarding pricing and exact launch dates are expected to be announced closer to the official launch.
