Xiaomi Ends Software Support for Some Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO Devices – No More HyperOS 2.0 Updates!

Xiaomi is known for providing software updates for its phones for a few years, but after a certain time, older devices stop getting updates. These devices are then added to Xiaomi’s EOL (End-of-Life) list. Recently, Xiaomi has added some more devices from its Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO brands to this list.
This means these phones will no longer get HyperOS 2.0 updates or even basic security patch updates. If you own one of these devices, it’s time to know what this means for you!
Why Do Phones Stop Getting Updates?
Every Xiaomi phone comes with an update policy. Based on the phone’s category, Xiaomi provides updates for a limited number of years:
- Budget and Mid-range phones: 2 years of major updates + 3 years of security updates.
- Flagship phones: 3 years of major updates + 4 years of security updates.
- Some premium flagships: Up to 4 years of major updates + 5 years of security updates.
Once a phone reaches the end of its update cycle, Xiaomi stops providing any further updates for it.
Devices That Will No Longer Receive Updates
Redmi Series:
1️⃣ Redmi Note 11 SE (Some sources still show Android 14, but this is incorrect!)
2️⃣ Redmi Note 11S 5G
3️⃣ Redmi Note 11S
4️⃣ Redmi Note 11
5️⃣ Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G
6️⃣ Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G
POCO Series:
1️⃣ POCO M4 Pro
2️⃣ POCO X4 Pro

These devices are officially added to Xiaomi’s EOL list, meaning:
❌ No HyperOS 2.0 updates.
❌ No security updates.
❌ No bug fixes or performance improvements.
What Does This Mean for Users?
If you own one of these devices, here’s what will happen:
- Your phone will still work as usual, but it won’t get any new features or security improvements.
- Over time, your phone might become slower due to outdated software.
- You may face security risks as new threats won’t be patched.
- Some apps might stop working properly as they require newer Android versions.
What Should You Do Now?
🔹 If your phone is on the list but still works fine, you can continue using it, but be aware of security risks.
🔹 You can look for custom ROMs (if you know how to install them) to keep getting updates unofficially.
🔹 If you want new features and security, it might be a good time to upgrade to a newer phone.
Final Thoughts
Xiaomi regularly updates its EOL list by adding older devices. If your phone is listed, you won’t get any more updates, but you can still use it. However, if security and new features are important for you, upgrading to a newer model is a good idea.
